This was really what the whole backpacking trip was all about... and when it finally came down to it, I choked. I didn't really know what to do with the full brightness of the sun to contend with. I had read about annular eclipses and knew to expect full solar intensity, but even so, the exposure and framing challenges were significant. So like any amateur, I just took a bunch of bracketed shots and put them together in an HDR composite afterwards. Oh the horrifying things I saw on my sensor when I shot into the sun with a super small aperture... D= I spent like an hour cleaning up the dust spots. And promptly ordered cleaning supplies the day I got home.
