As I was returning from my New Year's Eve hike up the Spencer trail, I caught the last light on one of John Lee's stone cabins along the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry. This is a popular spot for professional Grand Canyon river rafters to put in for their trips. You wouldn't guess it from this solitary desert view, but the Colorado River and the beginning of the Grand Canyon are directly behind you in this picture. :)

Critiques are always welcome.

Man this is some serious quality, I tell ya. Totally proffesional, if you ask me. I can certainly see it being used in a magazine. I can't think of anything to suggest

I love how the cabin almost looks like an extension of the hills behind it. It gives the whole thing a very organic feel. Couple that with the broody-looking, cloudy sky, and I'm almost expecting some sort of stone creature to come lumbering out the door. I love it!

The wagon wheel adds a really interesting character to the whole piece. It makes the age seem more apparent to me. Beautiful composition! I love how you do the color wash-out in these photos.

I think the wagon wheel was my favorite piece of this photo, with the low light casting a dramatic shadow. Thanks, glad you like. :)

This is awe inspiring work. The mountains look like something from the moon and the house looks like it is just part of the landscape and not human made at all. This is excellent work. The clouds enhance the scene very well. This is a prize photo.
